The Bad Pitch Blog

Welcome to the Bad Pitch blog. We’re tired of the public relations industry taking the blame for a minority of its members that pollute communication channels with bad pitches, poorly written news releases and useless phone calls asking "did you get the release?"

So we’re outing the guilty parties in full view of the highly-networked blogosphere. It’s our hope that the Bad Pitch blog will entertain the true victims of this practice, the PR industry, and it will help the guilty parties improve. Hopefully the blog will someday become obsolete.

Who are we?

I’m Kevin Dugan, author of the award-winning Strategic Public Relations blog. As an accredited public relations professional with nearly 15 years experience, I’m tired of remaining silent. But I knew I would need some help and Richard Laermer was kind enough to join me. Laermer is the author of Full Frontal PR, CEO of RLM Public Relations and has more than 20 years experience on both sides of the media. As a recognized authority on media culture and business trends, his involvement will provide a higher level of expertise and insight into this problem.

When you say outting do you mean name names? A recent one-man shop I hired for a small project copied me on an email he sent to a publication which was full of errors. I was so embarrassed I fired him immediately.

Sounds like a good idea - any effort that helps the industry has to be a good thing in my eyes.
