From Pitch to Pink Slip…Bad Pitches Equal Unemployment

Pitches seem to be reaching an all-time low. It’s getting so bad that two people recently lost their jobs over pitches they distributed.

Gawker tells us of a racist pitch so misguided that its sender is lucky if unemployment is the only consequence of her actions. The pitch is so negative you have to wonder if the client is considering legal action.

Todd Andrlik points us to a bad pitch sent by Napster’s PR firm to a blogger that resulted in a negative post (followed by a quick response from the firm’s CEO). Spend some time following the comment drama on these posts. Hat Tip to Media Orchard.

I’ve been “between jobs” (never fired) and do not wish any form of unemployment on any person. But our actions come with consequences. Unfortunately most of the folks that inspired the Bad Pitch blog are not shown the door; they are merely promoted and dodge the bullet.

Kevin - I've bookmarked your site and have "gawked" at it with horror for several months now.

I'm in the PR biz, and always fear that one of my pitches will wind up here. But judging from these beauties, I don't think I'll make the cut.

Keep up the great work,
gw
