BIG NEWS: Ragan Bets on The Bad Pitch Blog

Change is upon us. As of this post, Ragan Communications is advertising on the Bad Pitch blog.

What might seem like a small ad is a huge opportunity for the Bad Pitch Blog to go places we haven’t been before.

In the coming year we’ll do even more to help stop bad PR before it starts. But first, let’s review.

The pitches are, slowly but surely, really starting to get better. This trend and feedback tells us we’re making a difference. But we know we can do more. After two short years, even in Internet time, we’re just getting started.

Our new platonic relationship with Ragan means more Bad Pitch Blog for you in 2008. But let’s be clear, folks. See that ad in the upper left column of our blog? They pay us to put that ad there. That's the extent of this. Well, except for one other thing. We pitched Ragan on getting Slick and Steve Crescenzo into the ring for a wrestling match. He's mulling it over.

That said we feel good about this. Ragan Communications is one of the first industry organizations we’ve seen get serious about things like online video, blogs and social networks. Ragan is doing more than just experimenting. They’re even making mistakes. Which is to say they’re doing it.

Bright Light City 2.0
Ragan is teaming up with PRSA for an event focusing on all things shiny and sparkly. Head to Las Vegas from March 5 through 7 for the 2008 Social Media for Communicators Conference.

The New York Times’ Technology Editor David Pogue is speaking at the event. And any Bad Pitch Blog readers in the house get a registration discount for making an appearance.

Based on Ragan’s 07 social media event, we believe this is one you won’t want to miss. But you should make with the clicky and see for yourself.

So this is our news. Well at least part one. The Bad Pitch Blog is taking it to the next level. By monetizing we will get medieval on those who rub our industry the wrong way. Slick’s already calling his friend with the “pair of pliers and a blow torch.”

We wish the entire Bad Pitch Blog community more fun this coming year. We'll do our part to make that happen. More on this thought in the next couple of weeks. Until then, Viva Las Vegas!
