Vote for Bad Pitch Blog in PRWeek's Blog Competition

Keith O'Brien just announced a PR Week best blog competition. In doing so he pits 32 industry blogs against each other -- tournament style.

Vote for the Bad Pitch blog. Click here, then click on our name to vote before end of day, Tuesday, August 5th.

We're up against Voce Communications' Voce Nation blog. The Voce team provides stiff competition. It's all the more noteworthy considering that drawn out loitering trial Mike Manuel was embroiled in. Not to mention the "invisible press kit" scandal.

We're sending Slick out to make Voce an offer they can't refuse. Until they mysteriously pull themselves from the running -- rock the vote.

And if it seems a little high school in nature to have a popularity contest, keep in mind this is back to school season. This video clip best captures how I view the competition.

Can I leave some "constructive" feedback? I don't like your logo. That's all I'm saying. I do like the ugliness of your blog, though. It's like... I was going to say Fuchsia out of Gormenghast, who is "one twist away from beautiful", but then I realised I'm the only person who likes that book, and literary references are arsy. Basically, your blog design principles borrow a lot from that time when you're drunk in a bar at 4am and meet a girl dressed in sack-cloth with a face like a pig - her peculiar aesthetic draws you in and underneath the mess you find a hot personality and a great body, and then you get embarrassed about liking a girl all your superficial mates aren't interested in, except for the purpose of taking the piss out of your taste in ladies, and... I'll stop, now, except to say you should read Gormenghast, except the last book, which is awful. You won't regret it. And your logo is not ugly like the rest of your blog. It's like the pig-faced girl getting a nose-job. It's wrong. (Total strangers slagging off your work... that's SO what web2 is all about.)

  4. 16 Voices - The next time I make it across the pond, I am buying you a pint.

But the truth is, I prefer people to hate the logo. That means it is on brand. We are not a flowers and candy blog. We started it because we were pissed off at bad PR people impacting the reputation of our industry.

The logo is to indirectly remind people that we are taking a different approach.

And it's to remind everyone that the media relations we highlight is not one twist away fromo beautiful...just twisted

    Cheers

That's the thing - I can't hate your logo... it's too good. If you wanted me to hate it, you'd do it in lime green MS Comic Sans Serif. And it would be a flashing animated gif. Ick.

Maybe that would be too much.

Anyhow, on the far more critical subject of beer, if by unusual coincidence you're in DC between 18 and 22 August you'll have a fantastic opportunity to buy me one. I'm visiting the new country for a week.
